These are the ruins of the Roman forums.
Santa Maria sopra Minerva
The only truly gothic church in Rome. Stronghold of the inquisition in Rome.
The Pantheon
The only ancient Roman (pagan) temple to survive intact. It survived because Emperor Phocas donated it to Pope Boniface IV in 608 after which it became the church of Santa Maria ad Martyres.
Saint Peter's
A church was once measured by its relics. St. Peter's Basilica houses the spear of St. Longinius, which pierced the side of Jesus on the cross, St. Veronica's handkerchief bearing Christ's face, and a fragment of the True Cross.
